Payroll/Commission Cards
The market for the MCC
Payroll/Commission Card includes companies
that process payroll, and financial institutions that provide
banking and payroll services to commercial customers. Current
payroll/commission statistics indicate there are more than 165
million wage/commission earners in the United States & Canada.
Program Description
Payroll/Commission cards are a cost effective alternative to
printing, cutting, and mailing paper payroll/commission checks.
The payroll/commission card is reloaded with the value of the
employee's wages/commission, allowing the cardholder to use the
card at ATM or POS terminals.
Target Market
Existing financial services providers that have commercial customer
accounts, and commercial customers who issue payroll/commission
checks or ACH for payroll/commission can offer payroll/commission
cards. Financial institutions can target commercial customers
who have employees who are "unbanked" and cannot accept
ACH, cash their checks, or deposit their payroll/commission checks.
These employees can use the card to make purchases rather than
request money orders, cashier's checks, or carry a large amount
of cash. The cardholder can also make ATM withdrawals to get
cash.
